These are words that are signed differently but are spelled the same.
For example FREEZE and WANT have the same handshape, location and movement but different palm orientation.
The ASL-phabet does not include palm orientation and so they are spelled the same. This is like homographs in English such as "wind" (wind blowing in your hair) & "wind" (winding a clock). They are pronounced differently but spelled the same.
